And I absolutely love cooking in mine daily. But watch out for some of the drawbacks mentioned below before you decide to invest in one.

3 Potential Halogen Oven Disadvantages You Need to Know
Although halogen ovens offer many benefits, there are also some potential disadvantages to be aware of.

One of the biggest complaints about halogen ovens is that they can cook food inconsistently.
This can result in certain parts of the food being overcooked while other parts remain undercooked, especially when cooking foods like potatoes from frozen.
While I’ve only been using my Daewoo halogen oven for less than a month, I haven’t experienced this yet but I experienced it with my previous halogen oven which I had for 2 years before it broke down.
I think inconsistent cooking happens because the halogen bulb can cause “hot spots” in the oven if you have an old oven which can lead to uneven cooking temperatures.
The result of this can cause browning and crisping of food, with some foods coming out too brown while others remain pale.
Understanding how to adjust various factors, such as cooking time and temperature, can help mitigate this issue, but it’s still important to be aware of the potential for inconsistent cooking in a halogen oven.
Halogen ovens are generally smaller in size compared to traditional ovens.
As a result, they have a more limited capacity for food. Large dishes cannot be accommodated, which can be a problem when you’re cooking for families or entertaining your guests.
However, if you’re only doing a weekly meal prep for yourself, then a halogen oven could be a great option as it can cook enough food for one person in minutes.
I’ve also noticed uneven cooking when cooking your food in multiple layers and it can be difficult for the halogen oven to get an even distribution of heat across the food.
This is worsened if you use the 5L extender ring that comes with your halogen oven because the heat at the top of the oven will not circulate to the bottom.
This can result in the need to cook in batches, which can be time-consuming and inconvenient.
While the smaller size of halogen ovens can be an advantage in some respects, it’s important to consider the capacity of the oven ahead of time to ensure that it will meet your needs.
Halogen ovens are made from glass and plastic, which means they can break easily if not properly handled.
The large bowl glass cover can crack or shatter, meaning you’ll have to replace the entire oven or purchase a replacement part, which is very expensive on its own.
The plastic components of the halogen oven may also wear out over time, so be sure to use caution when handling it and don’t overload it with food.
Also, the bulb light inside the halogen cover may break easily so be sure to handle it with care and don’t drop it on the kitchen counter or overuse your halogen oven.
To prevent your halogen oven from breaking easily, make sure you don’t heat your food using the highest temperature settings and store the oven in a safe place.
Lastly, it’s important to clean your halogen oven regularly to keep its components in top shape. If not taken care of, the glass bowl may break or wear out faster.

While halogen ovens do have some advantages such as being able to cook your food quickly and conveniently, they also have a lot of disadvantages that should be considered before investing in one.
I do not regret investing in my Daewoo halogen oven. It’s my second halogen oven in 3 years and I haven’t had any issues with it yet.
But I know that the potential for inconsistent cooking, limited capacity and easy breakage are there and I’m aware of how to take care of my halogen oven properly to prevent these issues.
